Linesource lamps provide fixed wavelengths for absorption and reflection measurements in photometers, chromatographs, polarimeters, fluorimeters, interferomters, spectroscopic wavelength calibration, pollution monitoring, ozone generation, sterilization, and other applications. |

Mercury lamps provide very high brightness in narrow peak wavelengths in the UV region (184.9, 253.6, 312.5, 313.1, 365, 366.1) as well as lines in the visible range. Cadmium, sodium and zinc versions are also available, providing additional lines. This spectrum can be limited to just one line with simple band-pass filtering to allow high-resolution measurements. With relatively low power (<100W) precision construction and high grade materials, these lamps generally have lifetimes of 2000 to 4000 hours.
